Above the sea of clouds, an eagle circles along the snowline. It does not flap; it simply spreads its wings and lets the wind fly for it. Beneath it the ridges rise and fall in silence, an open book only stone knows how to read.
Clouds drift past it like time, or perhaps like forgetting. It has watched too many seasons come and go along these ridges — snow melting then falling, grass greening then withering — while the shape of the peaks has never changed. Height does not bring conquest; it brings silence: the higher one flies, the better one understands that mountains cannot be crossed.
We tend to think freedom means leaving the ground behind, but freedom is really finding one’s own current of air. The eagle never announces its flight path aloud; it simply hangs there and waits for the wind to lift it. The truly vast things are never loud — like snow mountains, like this hour’s light, like a person who has finally learned to fly with restraint.
